As I think about the Social Change Model, a few things come to my mind. First, that change always takes time and that it won't happen immediately. Thus, I felt that this quotation by Maya Angelou (who I greatly admire) is quite appropriate as I think about change (ie, a great achievement) and how it doesn't happen overnight.
Next, I have an interest in global education and how change (both positive and negative) can affect not just the local areas, but also the world. When I think about global education and change, I think back to last summer when I had the opportunity to travel Vietnam on a study tour through MSU's College of Education. I was able to visit a college class that was practicing their English language skills. Part of their practice that day was to sing Michael Jackson's "Heal the World." I personally like that song and think there is a lot of meaning to it related to social change... and it's even more meaningful when I combine my thoughts on the globalization of social change and the lyrics in the song. So here is a picture from that visit to Nha Trang University (I'm the one who is NOT in uniform) and a link to the song on YouTube.
Thanks for reading!
