Visual Representations: Curtis Kocher

One of the things I reflected on most while reading this past week was the Social Change Model group value of Collaboration. To me, out of all seven C's of change, I feel that Collaboration is the most important and it is a vital instrument in leadership and social change. As stated in the book, Collaboration multiplies a groups effort through collective contribution, and capitalizes on the diversity and strengths of its members. Without Collaboration, groups would not be able to agree on a Common Purpose and it can cause unneeded tension. I feel this photo represents collaboration because it looks as if there are a lot of people contributing in a diversified group of people, each participant is engaged, they seem to equally share a part of the circle.
Another value I felt was really important toward leadership was Commitment. Commitment is an individual value that spurs initial investment into action, and without it, people would not have the passion to help lead a purposeful social change. As stated in the book, commitment demonstrates each persons responsibility to service and leadership, and in turn it contributes to the groups Common Purpose. Commitment shows how much desire a person has towards a particular subject and with this brings true leadership. To me, this photo represents commitment because when I typically think of people who lift, I think of people who dedicate their lives to become as fit as they possibly can be. The dedication they have brings a lot of commitment and i feel if groups encourage this type of commitment, they end up thriving in the long run.
