I chose this cartoon as one of my visuals for the week because I not only thought it was funny but I also think it holds a lot of value for leaders. One main problem with people not being leaders are they are too scared to break out of the "social norm". No one wants to say something that will be looked down upon or something that is different than what others have suggested. Instead, people often play off standing up and being the leader by doing exactly what the men in the cartoon do. Instead of asking themselves what needs to be done and making their own suggestions, they look to someone else to do it for them. If people could break down the fear of being different, people could share their ideas they have bottled up and potentially implement so many ideas allowing things to be easier, faster, and overall better for everyone.
The second visual I chose was that of a group of all people putting their hands together. This best represents collaboration, one of the C's in the social change model. I think this aspect of the model is extremely important because we can't always have one distinct leader in a group. Sometimes the best results come from a group working together. In this way, everyone can share their different ideas and even help create new ideas together, things that would never have been thought about working separately. With everyone working side by side, it allows for an effort much greater than any other effort by a single person.
