The social change model in my mind is not
simple, easy, or fast. It shows couples of leaders perspectives, and make a
long positive change for the society.
The first picture shows cutting down
trees. When I was student in China, from middle school to High school, my
science teacher always told his students cutting down trees is dangerous. He
said our nature would revenge us for over cutting trees, such as no enough oxygen,
soil erosion, and so on. I was so worried at that time, and hoped
some leaders could come out. Actually, in some years, our environment turned
worse that truly caused many leaders to think about the reasons, and tried to make social
changes. Here is one way to improve the quality of our environment.
Planting trees. It seems ironic, but it
is really the fastest way to make a change. Not only one leader appeals to planting
trees. They also organize our students to plant trees as doing an activity in
some specific days like the Arbor Day. I realize that the better our human
being treats the environment where we live, the more positive impacts will happen
to the social change. Also, leadership never means individual. It involves
collaborative relationship that lead to collective action grounded in the
shared values of people who work together to effect positive change. (Heri,
1996, P.16) However, leaders don’t mean famous people either, everybody can lead
to a small social change, and then consist of a social change model. Don’t
hesitate to show your power from doing any specific and small things, just like
planning a tree.
