Week 5 Post: Curtis Kocher

For my first visual this week, I felt that this photo of people holding a trophy was a great example of Common Purpose. The book defines Common Purpose as a group of people who have a shared vision and similar values. Even though some people strive for it more then others, I feel a group of people who participate in a team sport all share one major vision/goal; winning. Each member on a team contributes their talents differently, and with the combination of each of their talents, they all create a socialized vision of winning with a greater level of investment and commitment. To me, this photo shows a group of people who have succeeded in sharing a Common Purpose and are now celebrating.

The second visual that I found is a group of different people joining together and I feel it is a great example of collaboration. Collaboration is defined in the book as people working together for common goals by sharing responsibility, authority, and accountability in achieving those goals. Each member in a group is different. They have different values, knowledge, and ideas that they can contribute and it can help a group be more productive at making higher quality decisions. To me, this photo represents each member of a group equally taking part in a decision making process, giving different perspectives, and working together to accomplish their goals.
