I chose this image of a group of people working together towards a common purpose while cleaning up the Gulf Oil Spill. The common purpose was to clean up the oil that spilled off the Gulf Coast to avoid environmental damage to surrounding populations and wildlife. This was an extremely unfortunate event to happen, but it required people to work together in collaboration towards a common purpose. Not a single person or company could have cleaned up the oil spill in its entirety, rather it required the collaboration of many scientists, workers, and volunteers to protect the areas from further damage.
This is an image from one of my favorite shows growing up, Full House. I have two sisters, and we loved to watch the show together. During the show, the sisters would often have issues, but at the end of every episode they would always be guided to solve their problems by being respectful to each other. I think that this represents the first form of controversy with civility that many people experience, how to always love and get along with your siblings despite any arguments you may be having. Our childhood experiences help shape how we act as individuals as we grow older, and I think sibling interactions are the most intense form of conflict management that continuously help us deal with conflicts among groups of people throughout the rest of our lives.
