Week 6- Elizabeth Wenner

Two visuals-
I chose this image to represent Consciousness of Self. This C is all about being aware of your own strengths, values, and your impact upon others. This image shows someone is does not yet have this C. They aren't quite sure who they are. But when they do fully understand their values, strengths, etc, they will know who they are.
Commitment represents a journey. It is a long term deal. Not something that you easily give up on. This image was chosen because it represents a man going up the stairs, but you can't see the end. That is how commitment works. The end sight it immediately clear or visible, but you're committed to it none the less.

Current Event Connection-
One of the best organizations to show congruence is the Red Cross. Every disaster that strikes the Red Cross and their volunteers show congruence. They're consistent with their actions, as well as honest with their people. They show genuine care for those who are victims, and look to truly make the situation better. The Red Cross is a prime example for congruence through their consistency and authenticity, just as described in the C for congruence. As described in the book, in order to fully conceptualize congruence, you must have a clear consciousness of self. You must have a strong base for your values, strengths, and beliefs (as stated in the book). The Red Cross displays all of these understanding through their mission statement, in addition to their actions. Red Cross sums this up in one simple sentence- “The American Red Cross exists to provide compassionate care to those in need.”
