I chose these two images because they represent the values of Commitment and Consciousness of Self. The top image is a picture representing marriage. To me marriage is one of the biggest commitments anyone can make. Every time I hear the marriage vows it makes me think how committed one really has to be in order for it to work (for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part). The second image represents the value of Consciousness of Self. Everyone needs to be aware of their own personal beliefs, attitudes, and emotions. This picture shows a bunch of values that one may have. Consciousness of Self also includes being aware of your emotional state and making good decisions rather than reacting without thinking.
CURRENT EVENT:
The first thing I think of when I hear the word congruence is politics. Politicians are always making promises and saying they are going to do certain things if they are elected. In the book Leadership For A Better World the value of Congruence is explained as "walking the talk." This means that not only does someone say they are going to do something, but they actually do it. The current event article that I chose to represent the value of Congruence is called "PolitiFact and President Obama: Promises kept, promises broken by President Obama." This article talks about all the different promises President Obama has made since he has been in office and if he kept the promise or not. The article claims that Barack Obama has fulfilled or made substantial progress on 73 percent of promises he made back in 2008. Even though 73 percent is very high, President Obama still can improve on the value of Congruence. After reading this article I would like to know how what my percentage is on promises kept.
